Power lines are a motif I return to as a symbol of the landscape I grew up with, having been born and raised in the city, and the silhouette of a lone house is another I keep painting, as a longed-for scene I could never find there. The two of us would spend two or three whole days, until sunset, diligently cutting the overgrown plants, and in the end we would dry them and drink dokudami tea. Our hands ended up smelling, and the tea tasted strange.\u003cbr\u003eWhile walking through the city at night, I happened to notice dokudami growing at the side of the road. Memories of that garden rose up, as if making only the dokudami glow brightly.
