Lately, I've been thinking about “the room”. The room is a place where I have spent time alone since I was little, and it is also a space that has appeared again and again in my paintings. Clothes left where they were taken off, favorite books. The room is a place that lets all sorts of things live together, a place where judgment can be held in suspension. Over time, many things and meanings have been brought into the room. People, fruit, curtains, dogs, mirrors. Painting, too, may in a sense be part of that. What will I bring into the room I have lived in from now on, and what will I let live together there? I want to reweave this place, which has recurred so many times, so that it fits my own body.
