The Crying Knight (White)

This series, “ノンバイナリー”, is an attempt to question the very structure of binary opposition. By placing a mirror at the center of a chessboard, which presupposes opposition, white and black no longer face each other as enemies but reflect their own image. The boundary becomes a mirror surface, and division turns into dialogue. Not victory or defeat, but facing and mirroring one another. In that moment, the game goes beyond opposition and becomes a place of quiet coexistence. It dismantles the frameworks hidden in the structure of our thinking and relationships, such as “win or lose” and “right or wrong,” and proposes another way of being in between.
