Ayaka Shirota
Born 2001, Mie
At the core of my practice is the act of sublimating emotions, memories, and inner landscapes by making them visible. I depict the emotions that inevitably arise in relationships between people, and the universal wavering that runs through both self and others. Starting from inner tremors such as anxiety and pain, I try to look at what lies beyond them. And still, I want to call it “love”. It is not confined to personal feeling; it emerges as something that reaches every being. Through inner landscapes that rise up in everyday life, the traumas of a lifetime, and the slight wavering of emotions, I hope to evoke viewers' own memories and feelings and to invite an inner dialogue. I hope that my works can become an occasion for each person to rediscover the emotions within them and a place to share the process of resonance and sublimation, and that this world might come even a little closer to love.
