やっぱり怪しいわね

This painting shows an ant climbing over a cigarette butt. On walks I often see ants making their way across cigarette butts, and it makes me think how ants will walk over anything lying on the ground without a second thought. It reassures me, as if the thing were freed from the meaning and function it holds and returned to being mere form.
